Writing Recraft Camp writing

W.A.L.T: use adjective & adverbial phrases. 






It was finaly our groups turn. Our group was the last group to do it. Two sleepless nights waiting for this day to come. This was going to be the best day ever.  James caled as over "group J and I, time to go".  With no time to lose I put my shoes & socks on got my rain jacket & torch then we hoped in the car and within a couple on seconds we were of. I was thinking about all of the people that have came back of from caving talking about incredible it was and how small the some spaces were. I was so excited but I had fear running up and down my spine. We got there. James gave as some instructions on how to get to the cave. We had to find swamp a old tree over 100 years old and then we will find the cave. We got a few instructions before we entered the dark deep cave. I took my first couple steps into the cave then knew it was going to be awesome. As I was walking there was a water fall. We sore huge crayfish and small ones proberly as just smaller then a pencial. Georgia shined her torch at a spot in the cave and out  came about 4 or 5 wetas the size of your hand. They were gross. As we got closer to the end of the cave we sore some glow worms. They were pretty. Glow worms are things that hang. We mde it to the end. James said "who wants to crawl through the small space. I did it. I had to go down on my tummy. It was averagely hard. Once we were out of the small bit we went back with our torches of. It was pitch black. We were out. Zara, Georgia and I went back in all alone with no adult to show us the way. We went in a line. Then Thomas, Maraki and jaiden came in to save when we didn't need saving. Then Thomas said " you wasted half of our life".  When we got out of the cave we had a biscuit and some photos. You should have seen how dirty we all were!!!

Writing Recraft Going To Perth

W.A.L.T:  Use adverbial & adjectivel phrases 


I gazed the at little silver car slowly driving down the road. There's no going back now said the little voice inside my head. The pitch blackness was swallowing everything up. My legs were purple and numbing. The door slides open as if we were going into paradise, but it was actually a airport massive and cold.


 My eyes widen when I see the humongous que of people flying Qantas. Then stare at the tiny little line of people flying Jet star and Air New Zealand. There is like no one there. Anyway time ticking. Hopefully there not all on my plane!

At long last the long que was finished. Well for us at lest! We went to a counter with a lady with a big cheesy grin on her face and her beautiful brown hair in a high bun. She scanned our passports then just suddenly stopped, took a glance at Nelson and then that's when the nerves struck me.

 “He's a boy right"? She asked.
 “Yes why"? mum answered.
 “Because it says he's a female”.
“oh my gosh" mum said in shock.
 The lady guided us to the end of the airport terminal and we waited. I was so nervous. Is it me or is it getting hot in here. Thoughts were flying through my mind.  Will they let us out of the country?
 “Calm down" said mum.
  How does she my mum expect me to calm down? I mean seriously. G wiz

 The lady returned.“ so we just rung Canberra, and they said if we let you out of the country to Sydney than they have to let you go out of Sydney from perth".
What a relive. I can't wait to see my dad in Perth.

Every Wednesday we have been working through the Get it, Sort it, Use it model to inquire about different countries around the world and their languages/culture. We each brainstormed a potential list of subjects and chose what we wanted to find out more about and then started our research.

This term and last term we were learning about the legand of Ki-O-Rahi. Me and another 15 kids were chosen to get trained for a tournament. We played a whole lot of schools from around the Manawatu. We played levin in the final and lost and got 2nd overall.

Evaluation:
What are you most proud of and why? 
That it has lots of coulors but it's not over bord on each square.

What challenged you the most and why? 
Getting it done in time and making sure everyone had something to do.

Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? 
Getting it finished before dead line and maybe not to much decoration.

Writing draft.

Bla bla bla is all I can hear until now....

“So how's James" Nana asked.
 “Very good" I say.
 “Any girls" she wounded. I start to think with mischievous look in my eye. “Ummm yes" I say.
 She looks shocked should I have lied to an 86 year old or not? Well there's no going back now. Here goes nothing. 
“They even have kids” 3 i fact. I admitted. But before I could say anything mum snapped at me 
get to the car Maia NOW! No you can't make me. 
You wanna bet says mum
 no I reply. I go to the car. Anna comes. I give her a message to say to mum. Guess what the answer was NO. I wonder if I can get away with sneaking in like a spy. I try it I go a little further. Then I here Anna say
“ please welcome Maia" 
“No" says Mum angrily. 
So I wait and wait in the car. Then I can here a little sound a little squeak and Mum and Nelson Come. The car was silent. Man I'm young to be dead when everyone goes.

Te Reo Maori

WALT: communicate a message.





Description: We have been participating in 3 different workshops around colour, compositions and fonts.  We put these skills to use in a poster sharing our knowledge about Te Reo Maori.
Why? We have noticed that our posters are too cluttered and do not communicate a  message well.
 
Task: Make a poster about Te Reo Maori.


Criteria:
Message: My message is clear and purposeful.  Everything that is on my poster relates to my message. 👍

Composition:  My poster is balanced. 👌

Font:  My font is clear, readable and suits the message.👍

Colour:  I have used 2-3 colours that are complementary.  My background choice makes the text pop!👍


Accuracy:  All of the words on my poster are spelt correctly.👍

 

Evaluation:
What are you most proud of and why?

I am proud of my colors because usually I use heaps of coulors but this time only used 3.

What challenged you the most and why?
Spelling the Maori words right and putting the macroons in the right place

Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? Not muck around finding a background and just choose a simple one.

Feedback/Feedforward: I think you did well with your colour but next time I think you should do it a bit bigger or out a bit more detail. Kiwi the kiwi goes fishing.



Description: Hiwi the kiwi came to our school and tought us about fishing and what will keep you safe. 



Hey, you.  Do think you have been obeying the fishing law? I bet you aren't so listen up. 

How many of you have a life jacket? Probably about   50%   out of   100%   have them and  25% were them. So what I'm trying to say is you must be wearing a life jacket at all times. I mean what if your boat sinks and you not wearing a life jacket? You will most properly drown and if you don't well your one of the lucky ones. So just wear a life jacket. 



Every one wants a chance at fishing right? Well if you don't ho with the rules no one will.you must put the little fish back so than they can grow and you can go big and then you can catch then and eat them with your fish and chips. Oh and the big fish let them have baby's so that there will be more fish for everyone. Fish for the future.



Ok now. You might think this is the most dumbest idea ever but you should have a wet towel on your boat at all times. If you don't and you pick up a fish with your hand your bare  hands it's gonna go off and taste gross. But with a wet towel it will stay nice and fresh.


Now do we think we're allowed to fish anywhere even in the marine reserve? WRONG!! Your not allowed to fish everywhere and definitely not a marine reserve, no no no no! You are not and never will be allowed to fish in a marine reserve because that's were all the special fish are. You will get in a lot of trouble.


So remember this it can save your life and your money from paying fines. Also....
FISH FOR THE FUTURE. 
HIWI the kiwi taught me that and all of this. Hope you learnt something. Bye.

Smart Goals

W.A.L.T: Set smart goals 

Task:

S.M.A.R.T. means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timesensitive.
Specific: Don’t be vague. What exactly do you want?
Measurable: Quantify your goal. How will you know if you’ve achieved it or not?
Attainable: Be honest with yourself about what you can reasonably accomplish at this point in your life, taking into consideration your current responsibilities.

Realistic: It’s got to be doable, real and practical.
Time: Associate a time frame with each goal. When should you complete the goal by? Half way or all most the end of term 3.



Personal goal: my goal is to Develop good relation ships with other people because it my report that was not in the consistently row.

What are you most proud of and why? That I could do pat the dog way better than last year because last year I was horrible.

What challenged you the most and Why? Proberly the pancakes witch is hitting the ball and turning the racket that is really hard.

Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? Next time I want to be able to nail roll backs.

Buddy assessment: I think that you need to work on cutting the cheese because you can't hit more than twice in a row.

DESCRIPTION: Write an explanation about something you have learned about energy.



  



Heat and temperature


Did you know that heat and temperature are not the same? Well if you just answered yes you are wrong! Oh but no need to panic I'm gonna tell so sit back relax and read on......


Did you know that heat and temperature are not the same thing? Heat can only be something hot/warm and temperature can be something warm and cold. A couple of weeks ago we did an experiment with warm cold and room temperature water. First we put one finger in the cold water and another in the warm water at the same time. We left that in for about 20-30 seconds then we put them in the room temperature water for about the same time. The finger that I put in the cold water was cold and the hot water was hot because the atoms were trying to get to the temperature of the water. 


Thermometers 


People use a thermometer to see what the temperature is. You might use a thermometer at home if you spike to see what your temperature is.Another experiment we did was leaving the thermometer outside over night. But before we did that we looked to see what the temperature is. It was 21.c. When we got it out the next day it was at 15.c. Everyone got a chance to look at what the temperature went up to 30.c. Me and someone else left it on the table for a few minutes and it went down to 25.c. Diagram below.








Self assessment:  I think that I did a good job but next time I could plan and add more verbs.

Buddy assessment: Wow Maia, That's the best intro I've ever heard!!! Awesome job but next time add in a bit more detail on why heat and temperature are not the same. Georgia O :)

Description: Troy and Chris shared with us some movies that demonstrate people showing Integrity when it looked like they were not going to show it. Our goal was to create our own movies that showed Integrity at school

Task: this term we have bean doing a lot of science around energy. We had to make a movie on our understing on energy. We got into groups of two/three from a different math group to mix it up. My group choose to show understanding around potential and kinetic energy. Hope ypu enjoy it.

Self assessment:  I think I did a good job and choose good people to qork with so I stayed on task. I tthink our group did well around the learning intention because we showed the difference betwen potential & kinetic energy. Next time I think our camera skills could be better and the voice over could be louder.

Task: we had to get the first 5 words from our spelling list and then make a sentience and every word in the sentience had to start with the the letters from the word eg:                                                            Big Elephants Can Always Understand Small Elephants=Because.
Self Assessment: I think that I will be able to spell these words now because these are really easy sentences to remember. Next time I want to improve on not using animals or the names of animal because I used then quiet a lot.

Math Sample |Place Value.

Description
Purpose:  Our focus is to use different multiplication strategies to figure out three digit multiplication questions faster.  

Process:  At the moment we are focusing on the place value strategy.  To start with, our maths group worked together to learn the strategy.  Then we had a go by ourselves trying to use the strategy for each problem.  We shared our answers back with the group to discuss what the answers were.  

Learning: I lernt how to use place value using time tables. All you have to do is split the number up.

I was thinking about all of the people that have came back of from caving talking acool it was and how small the spaces were. I was so excited but I had fear running up my spine. We got there. James gave as some instructions on how to get to the cave. We had to find swamp a old tree over 100 and then we will find the cave. We got a few instructions before we entered the dark deep cave. I took my first step in the cave. As I was walking there was a water fall. We sore huge crayfish and small ones proberly as just smaller then a pencial. Georgia shined her torch at a spot in the cameand about 4 or 5 wetas the size of your hand came out. They were gross. As we got closer to the end of the cave we sore some glow worms. They were pretty. Glow worms are things that hang. We mde it to the end. James said "who wants to crawl through the small space. I did it. I had to go down on my tummy. It was hard. Once we were out of the small bit we went back with our torches of. It was pitch black. We were out. Zara, Georgia and I went back in. We went in a line. Then Thomas, Maraki and jaiden came in to save when we didn't need saving. Then Thomas said " you wasted half of our life".  When we got out of the cave we had a biscuit and some photos. You should have seen how dirty we all were!!!


Final draft

It was finaly our groups turn. Our group was the last group to do it. Two nights waiting for this day to come. James caled as over "group J and I, time to go". We hoped in the car.
